Remembrance Sunday Commemorative Event

Battle’s Over: A Nation’s Tribute at St Oswald’s Church

This year sees the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1st World War.  To mark this important historic moment we’ll be joining the anniversary events throughout the country as part of ‘Battle’s Over – A Nation’s Tribute’.

On Sunday 11th November 2018 starting at about 6.30 p.m. we’ll gather outside the church to the sound of Mereside Brass Band, hear the reading of the ‘Tribute to the Millions’, keep an Act of Remembrance, light the WW1 Beacon of Light, and, to the sound of the bells ringing out for peace, we’ll go into church for a Commemorative Event.

In church we’ll have readings, reflections, tributes and music by Jo Farrow. Jo’s performance and music have been greatly appreciated in the past at St Oswald’s.

Please check this website for further information as we approach Remembrance Sunday.
